The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular is $1.97, the Lundberg Survey found.
"It is practically guaranteed that gasoline prices will rise further with crude oil prices up and spring gasoline demand about to kick in," said survey publisher Trilby Lundberg.
The average price at this time last year was $3.20 -- $1.23 per gallon higher, Lundberg said.

Here are the average prices in some other cities: Portland, Ore., $2.05; Los Angeles; Denver, $1.78; Houston, $1.78; Detroit, $1.98; Atlanta, $1.85; Philadelphia, $1.96; Boston, $1.91.
The AAA daily survey of gas station prices was up 0.1 cent Sunday at $1.947 a gallon. That's down from $3.204 a gallon a year ago, but up from $1.91 last month.
